Icons have been around for centuries. After Christ death people were fascinated with iconoclasm of the Davine. But many icons have been destroyed due to the fact that the old testament spoke out against icons because it was betrayed as idol worship In Exodus 20:3-6, "You shall have no other gods before Me. you shall not make yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth. You shall not worship them or serve them; for i, The Lord Your God, am a jealous GOD, visiting the inequity of the fathers on the children, on the the third and fourth generations of these who hate me, but showing love and kindness to those who love me and keep my commandments." This verse has caused so much constravery till this day, Christian monarchy almost destroyed al the beautiful icons of the heavens and Christ over this. Icons were banned until the Macedonian Dynasty were the icons were reconstructed. Because of this act we can today see these beautiful artifacts. All of this has filled people for generations that painting these or anything semi liar was idol worship was a big nono. But now we can with no remorse mauch on these paintings of tremindous beauty.
