What are your thoughts about theft and destruction of ancient antiquities during the Iraq war? How should they be protected?

I believe that the theft and destruction of our ancient art is horrible. Ancient art is more than just some random thing that can be sold to the highest bidder. In Iraq lies a lot of old work that has meaning to it and has history from our ancestors. I believe this is how we can show our children and grandchildren how civilization began.

I think this can and should be protected more. There are security outside the museums but more should be done by the world because antiquities are still being taken.War is something that can't be stopped but we could atleast try to protect what has meaning to us. If all the antiquities are destroyed than there won't be any history for our children to see of how civilization began. I also think people who steal the art and people who buy stolen antiquities should get a severe punishment.
