I believe that the future of graphic design is depended on technology and heavily computerized. When photography invented, many painters appeared that painting is going toward to end. However, while some artists shared that fear, others embraced the new medium as a tool and an opportunity. When computer got involve in the graphic design industry, the first Website was introduced in the world, many graphic designers started to worry about their jobs. They were so afraid of they might be replaced by computers one day in the future. Nevertheless, as modern graphic designers, we should use technology and computer as tools to express our creative idea. Computer can do many things, but one thing it cannot do better than human’s brain – “creativity”. I believe this is our selling point.
There are couples of trends that I feel they might be the future of graphic design. First, it is interactive Web graphic design. Second, I believe it is motion graphic design. The last one is the most striking graphic design trends in the twenty-first century. It is called “do it yourself” movement. Although the name sounds threatening for some designers, do it yourself? Means everyone is a designer? So How about us? Broadly speaking, DIY helps to spread design awareness to those people who cannot afford to pay for professional designers. Through widely publicity, I believe that many designers like you and me will benefit.
