journal entry #3 m,w class

What is your theory as to why Egyptians seem so preoccupied with continuity and permanence?

Egyptian religion was based on polytheism and their religion guided every aspect of Egyptian life. Their religion and beleif leaded them to built the Great Pyramid for king Khufu. In Egypt, they have about 110 smaller pyramids which all made for the king and the queens they had to keep them forever in the pyramid. None of the builders or slaves wasn't suppose to be in Pyramid after they die.

They built the great Pyramid not just bacause of not any other countries has ever built nothing close to the Great Pyramid, they built it because of they beleived in after their life they can come back at the Pyramid and live in there forever. Because their religion stressed an afterlife, Egyptians devoted much time and wealth to preparing for survival in the next world.
They used huge blocks of stone to build the Pyramid. They used about 2,300,000 of those block stones and each weight about 2.5 tons. I think they chose this hard materials to symbolize their life after death remain forever as the Pyramid and in the Pyramid. They beleived they can reach their fully goal after their death, thats why when kings and queens died, they had to respect the body and soul to keep them as their king and queen forever. The ancient Great Pyramid built thousands of years ago but still one of the most famous, oldest and most strongest building in the world that represented their beliefs and cultures.
