The "Master" Role

The “master” role is secondary to a new role for artist in the modern era because new era or modern art has renewed the art or in better word it has changed the art in a whole different way. Now artist are not limited to just painting or sculpturing, in modern art there are new ways or forms that artist can use to express themselves. They star to use things that nobody could ever imagine that could be art, an example of this was Marcel Duchamp showing an urinal as a work of art. Also, the “master” word was made for the past artist of the high renaissance that created painting for the church and for rich people like the Medicci. There were two modernist art movements called realism and impressionism that seek to draw more interest to art. Nowadays artist can use media that in the past was thought that could be impossible to create what artist create now; for example: now you can make art with software, or even you can make art with a simple picture, you can put in Photoshop and work it and make it look like a painting. We also see that some artist even used soup cans to make paintings. Modern artist seek to create a feeling of amazement when people look at their artwork. The new materials used for modern artist could be cardboard, magazines, old pictures and the technology. I don’t think the role of “master” persist even though there are good artist out there, because What the great masters of the past did is not comparable to what modern artist do.
