Just Dairy

I dont know his name, Ill call him Texas because that is what he was all about.

His dad was in the military so he moved around a lot as a child, though he strongly claims his Texas roots. He prity much told us that he would do about anything that hit home. He has done a lot of magazines for texas. texas moonthly,Dairy today, a magazine about Beef, and Ranger were all done for Texas. He's the one who does the cow portraits. I actually ran across one of his portraits on the internet today while searching magazine layouts. it was prity cool. He designed the best selling issue of Ranger. It was a picture of a real texas ranger, all decked out in his "ranger gear". The looks very strong and proud. The cover is thought to be very iconic even though the story that it was for was a negative one, not in favor of texas rangers. The next month, the worst selling.

He talked about using typography to MAKE a design. He Designified the cover of HOW magazine by using the title in a differant way every issue to convey the highlight of the issue. He made a very simple word into the base for a very creative concept. This made for very fun and neat covers. Eventually though, after he'd moved on, the magazine went back to a standard logo font.
He told us that if a client is obsessed with their logo/ comination mark then you dont quite give in, you set guidelines. "Make it cool"
