From Artist to Masters

Making scientific studies of the body, and mathematical analysis among other things Da Vinci, Michelangelo and other artist earned the titles of "masters". Renaissance artist as well as baroque artist were people who was more than just artist, they were admire because they developed a method to solve visual problems in paintings and also they perfectionated the use of proportion. We see for example the frescoes painted on the sixtine chapel and how detailed and well proportionate they are. The studies and their characteristics lead them to create magnificent works that until now are pieces of art. At this time this "masters" left their mark on time because of all the knowledge they had acquired they were able to create pieces that were beyond their time. Also this was a time of exploration and discovery, so this is another reason why these people perfectionated their art. Another characteristic that these painters and sculturist had was their personalities, they were very dedicated people and their thirst of knowledge and discovery take them to new horizons.

Nowadays they are some great painters, but because of all the studies that ancient people did they use the knowledge that Da Vinci and Michelangelo heritage us to make their pieces and maybe because of that their pieces don’t have the same impact that those of the past had. If we talk about modernism, that’s another thing. But at the end all art it doesn’t matter if it is ancient or modern is derivate from the "masters" of renaissance and baroque periods and their techniques are still use for most artists today. So, today there are good and great painters but the title of "masters" are for those artist that change art forever during the renaissance.
