There is no doubt that Caravaggio,
Da Vinci, and Michelangelo were considered "masters" at the time that they lived(and even today). I feel as if these men were considered "masters" because of their skill level of art and how they wanted to learn the ways to improve on their art. Like
Da Vinci for example, he went far to discover the human body to properly draw it. Michelangelo felt as if he was releasing the art out of the marble. And even though
Caravaggio was a wanted criminal, in his time, he still had a passion for his art that people copied his style. These men had the skill and proper techniques at their time to draw. It also helped that they were
commissioned by the church to show off their work. I also feel as if they
Da Vinci and Michelangelo became "masters" because of how many of the churches and higher class wanted them to "decorate" the church with stories for all to see. Caravaggio became famous for adding "regular, non-perfect" people in his paintings and
incorporating the viewers in considerations to his paintings.

Today art has changed so much that anything can be seen as "art" to anyone. From architecture, to paintings, to even fashion I do feel their are some "masters" today. In my eyes I see many fashion designers as "masters." I find art "masters" in designers such as Chanel, Gucci,
Dolce &
Gabbana, Coach, to Sean John. These few brands all have someone at the top of the chain designing these items with the brand on them. From
designing purses, shoes, clothing, to jewelry all of these different top designers we have today each have their own style. These "masters" are famous and popular today because you can spot them right away (from a Coach bag to a Tiffany ring). Even though these masters do not demonstrate their design on canvas such as the "masters" of the Renaissance and Baroque periods, they do design their items on paper and get them out to the public.
