Propaganda

This poster is blatantly calling John Ashcroft out on his ways of "protecting" our country. I recently read a section from the government news stating that "Ashcroft pledged to renew the war on drugs, reduce the incidence of gun violence and combat discrimination so no American feels outside the protection of the law." Scary. I think the general idea of this poster comes across loud and clear... the artist is comparing out homeland security to the communists. It is a good example of propaganda because the poster is easy to read, and easy to understand. Just about everyone has seen a picture of Hitler or Stalen and can compare these images to the one in the poster. I think it represents the ideas of the masses very well. Maybe not that the Homeland security are Nazis per say, but I think it's safe to say that most americans feel violated by the amount of intrusion on their personal lives due to homeland security. The image may be a bit too harsh a comparison for some people, so it may be slightly less effective then something less, but still, as far as propoganda goes I think this is a good example.
