When asked if I thought William Blake was a fine artist or illustrator. I feel that he was more of a fine artist but he was also an illustrator.William Blake would take his poetry and imagination and transform it into to art paintings and he would also illustrate some of his work therefor you could call him an illustrator.
Blake was one the first to paint things from the imagination and back then that was something new but i believe that's where art comes from because art is judged by its beauty and the way it makes you feel which could consist of whatever thought inside your head. Blake would bring his dreams alive through his paintings, and just by looking at his work you would have to consider him a fine artist.
I am a fan of Blake's paintings and i think that any artist in today's world would probably look at Blake as an art pioneer because his work speaks for itself.
So when Asked if Blake was an fine artist or an illustrator, I feel he was a fine artist but i guess it all depends on how you look at it.
