Romanticism! or ...romanticism...
Romanticism, in the artistic sense, I would say is emotion turned into artwork. But not just emotion, it covers the dramatic as well. Some Romantic artwork has a Baroque feel to it, with high contrast and dramatic figures. Romanticism can have a grand feel to it, paintings of lavish landscapes with an 'over the top' feel at times. In the Romantic style, many themes are explored, images creating emotional reaction, horror, eroticism, exotic images, and sometimes a mix of them all. The form varies, but from my findings a human figure is usually somewhere in the composition, adding to the emotional connection. The styles are very different, some using bold, large, brushstrokes and others creating a kind of realism. One thing to said about romanticism is that the paintings do play on the emotions heavily. They give a kind of epic feel to whatever the subject may be. Some of the styles can be used to create opposites in each other, such as high contrast adding a horrific feel, but in another painting adding a heroic feel. Value plays an important part in Romanticism. Romanticism also seems to bring around another period of propaganda with the use of horror, eroticism and grandeur.
