Propaganda

A current example of political propaganda from today involving graphic design is a movie poster featuring the Bush administration George Bush Sr, Jr. Condoleezza Rice, Donald Rumsfeld, Dick Cheney, Saddam Hussein, Colin Powell, Saddam Hussein, and Osama Bin Laden (not pictured) as the phantom Menace, It is a Star Wars parity, which relates to nearly every American regardless of age. This poster has graphic design elements with the use of gradients and a photo collage layering style. Also through the typographic elements the designer has added makes this design effective. Typography is essential in graphic design, especially movie posters.

The entire Bush regime pictured as Star Wars characters in this poster make up a hilarious take on the Republican Party. The designer is comparing the subjects to the cast of Star Wars. His use of political propaganda is quite humorous to most. The way they present them as in the all mighty Qui-Gon Jinn shown as President Bush Jr., Queen Padmé Amidala shown as Condoleezza Rice, Anakin Skywalker shown as Saddam Hussein, Dick Cheney as R2-D2, and Colin Powell as C-3PO.

Another political propaganda piece involving graphic design is the illustration of three pigs with political signs. Throughout history, politicians have been compared to pigs. This piece brings that concept to life. The fat politicians who resemble the glutinous part of society with their suit wearing, cigar smoking selves. The signs that the pigs are holding based upon pro war beliefs. This illustration says plenty without many words at all. This piece can be nearly any nationality and the point will remain the same.
